On Tuesday April 2, the LHS softball and baseball teams played the Ft. Scott Tigers. Both teams played double headers and in the end the girls lost both games and the guys won one and lost one.
“The girls played hard and gave it their all,” Kristi Weers, head softball coach, said.
In the first game the girls lost 2-1 and in the second game they lost 5-8. In the first game for the boys they lost 5-7, but came back in the second game to win 7-5.
“They showed a lot of character coming back and getting the win in game 2,” Jeff Lohse, head baseball coach, said.
Due to the weather conditions, the teams had been forced to practice inside at the gym. Not only did the softball and baseball teams have to practice in there but the track team was in there, too.
“It was kind of hard to work with all those people in there, there was people running down on the gym floor, on the mezzanine, in the hall way and in the auxiliary gym,” Josie Keegan, sophomore, said.
Despite the lack of space teams made the best of it. “The girls did great, and with only practicing on the field five times before our game, I’m excited for what’s yet to come,” Weers said.
On April 16 the teams will be traveling to Baldwin to play the Bulldogs.
